How to determine one's Kochen color
The Sakyong has indicated that the color one chooses for one's Kochen should represent "What one is doing now."
If one is involved in several areas of the mandala, one should choose
the color that represents the area of one's main activity at this time.
Purple is for members of the Mukpo family and of the Court, Lords and Ladies of the Court, Masters of the Court, Members of the Ladrang, Patrons and so on. Orange
is suitable for people who feel connected to multiple areas of the
mandala, but perhaps don't have one area they are currently focused on
or employed in. "Shambhalians will have orange, like the tiger, since their confidence has never deteriorated." Red is for teachers: Acharyas, Shastris, and Senior Teachers. The teachers will have red at the bottom, representing expansive mind." Blue is
for government. Executive Directors, Kalapa Executive and Kalapa
Council not involved with other areas, Centre Directors, Group
Coordinators, those working with finance, Health and Well Being, Decorum
and so on. Black is for the military representing the protector principle.
